By accessing or using NaijaGist (accessible at naijagist.ng), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform. NaijaGist is operated by NaijaGist ("we", "us", "our") and is intended for users aged 18 and above, or 13+ with parental consent.
2. What is NaijaGist?
NaijaGist is a social media platform where users can post text-based gist (gossip/commentary), voice notes, short video clips, and engage with content through reactions and comments. The platform also features curated news content rewritten in Nigerian Pidgin English for entertainment purposes.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Registration
To use NaijaGist, you must register using your WhatsApp phone number. You will receive a one-time password (OTP) to verify your identity. One account per phone number is permitted.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Do not share your OTP with anyone. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account.

Rising (50+ posts): ₦500 | Star (250+ posts): ₦4,000 | Champion (1000+ posts): ₦30,000

Influencer Bonus: ₦10,000 for reaching 100+ followers
4.1 Earning Conditions
- Earnings are at our sole discretion and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
- Posts must be original, meaningful content — not spam, copy-paste, or AI-generated filler.
- Comments counted toward post credits must be substantive (minimum 10 characters, relevant to the post).
- We reserve the right to disqualify earnings from fraudulent, abusive, or spam activity.
- Payouts are processed monthly and require a valid Nigerian bank account.
- Minimum withdrawal threshold applies.
4.2 No Guarantee of Income
NaijaGist does not guarantee any specific level of income. Earnings depend on your activity, content quality, and audience engagement. The Creator Earnings Program is a reward system, not employment.
5. User Content

You are solely responsible for all content you post, upload, or share on NaijaGist. This includes text, images, videos, voice notes, profile photos, and any other media.
NaijaGist is NOT responsible for any content posted by users. We are a platform provider, not a publisher. We do not pre-screen, endorse, or verify user-generated content.
5.1 Your Responsibilities
By posting content on NaijaGist, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the content or have the legal right to share it.
- Your content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Your content does not contain defamatory, libelous, or false statements about any person.
- You have obtained consent from all persons appearing in any photos or videos you upload.
- Your content does not violate any applicable law in Nigeria or internationally.
5.2 Copyright & Intellectual Property

Do NOT upload images, videos, music, or any media that you do not own or have permission to use.
Posting copyrighted material (including photos from news websites, celebrity images owned by photographers, music clips, movie scenes, or TV show recordings) without authorization is a violation of copyright law and these Terms.
Violators will have their content removed immediately and may face account suspension, permanent ban, and potential legal action from the copyright holder.
5.3 License to NaijaGist
By posting content, you grant NaijaGist a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content within the platform. You retain ownership of your content and may delete it at any time.
5.4 Content Removal
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms, our Content Policy, or applicable law, without prior notice. We may also remove content based on valid DMCA takedown requests or court orders.
6. Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to:
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or invasive of privacy.
- Upload sexually explicit content or child exploitation material (this will be reported to law enforcement).
- Impersonate any person or entity.
- Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to create posts, comments, or reactions.
- Spam the platform with repetitive, low-quality, or meaningless content.
- Attempt to manipulate the Creator Earnings Program through fraudulent activity.
- Hack, disrupt, or attempt to compromise the platform's security.
- Use the platform to promote illegal activities, scams, or pyramid schemes.
- Upload malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
- Harvest or collect other users' personal information.
7. Limitation of Liability

7.1 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NaijaGist, its operators, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
8. Curated Content Disclaimer
NaijaGist features news and gossip content that has been sourced from public news feeds and rewritten in Nigerian Pidgin English for entertainment purposes. This curated content:
- Is not original reporting — it is a creative reinterpretation of publicly available news.
- May contain opinions, humor, and editorial commentary that do not represent facts.
- Should not be relied upon as a primary news source.
- Includes source attribution for transparency.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Reasons for termination include but are not limited to violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or illegal behavior. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of NaijaGist after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

Content Policy
NaijaGist is a platform for entertainment, gossip, news commentary, and social engagement. We want to keep it fun, safe, and legal for everyone. This Content Policy applies to all user-generated content.
⚠️ ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
The following content will result in immediate removal and permanent account ban without warning:
• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — will also be reported to law enforcement
• Content promoting terrorism or violent extremism
• Non-consensual intimate images ("revenge porn")
• Direct threats of violence against specific individuals

⚠️ STRICT COPYRIGHT RULES
DO NOT post any content you do not own or have permission to share. This includes:
• Photos or images taken by other people or from other websites
• Video clips from movies, TV shows, or other creators
• Music recordings or lyrics
• Screenshots of other people's social media posts without permission
• News article text copied from other publications
Consequence: First offense — content removed + warning. Second offense — 7-day suspension. Third offense — permanent ban.
NaijaGist bears no responsibility for copyrighted content posted by users. The user who uploads infringing material is solely liable for any legal consequences.
Hate Speech & Discrimination
Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on ethnicity, tribe, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality is prohibited.
Harassment & Bullying
Targeted harassment, intimidation, or bullying of other users is not allowed. This includes doxxing (sharing private information), persistent unwanted contact, and coordinated attacks.
Misinformation
Deliberately spreading false information that could cause harm — including fake health advice, false emergency alerts, or election misinformation — is prohibited.
Spam & Manipulation
- Posting the same content repeatedly
- Using bots or automation to post or react
- Creating multiple accounts to inflate engagement
- Posting meaningless content solely to game the earnings system
Graphic Violence
Excessively graphic or gratuitous violent content is not allowed. Newsworthy content may be permitted with appropriate context and sensitivity warnings.
Adult Content
Sexually explicit content, nudity, and pornography are not permitted on NaijaGist.
Reporting Content
If you see content that violates this policy, use the Report button on any post. Our moderation team reviews reports within 24 hours. You can also email support@naijagist.ng for urgent matters.
DMCA / Copyright Takedown
If you believe your copyrighted work has been posted on NaijaGist without your permission, send a takedown notice to support@naijagist.ng with:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- URL of the infringing content on NaijaGist
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate
We will remove infringing content promptly upon receipt of a valid takedown notice.
Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was actioned and you believe this was in error, you may appeal by emailing support@naijagist.ng with details of your case. Appeals are reviewed within 7 business days.
